Stress has been a major thing for us. As a way of celebrating our 7th year anniversary in FinancePH, we give you a FREE SEMINAR for all our loyal clients.
Everything that we do --- and not do --- are all coursed through our brain. Our brain determines who we are, how we act, and how we think. Yet most individuals know more about how their phones work than they do their brains.
Advances in technology have enabled us to learn more about the intimate workings of the human brain in the last 5 years, than we had ever had in the entire history of mankind.
Without an understanding of the brain, no leadership initiative pursued by any organization would stand a chance of success. The more we know how our brain works, the more we could make it work for us. If our brains work; everything works! COVID however, has adversely affected everyone’s mental wellness.
“Well-Being = Well-Doing"
But what happens when we are no longer experiencing “well-being”… especially because of COVID? The United Nations and the World Health Organization have declared that “mental wellness” would be the next pandemic. Not everyone would contract COVID but everybody would experience stress & anxiety.
Here is the outline for this seminar:
1. Situational Analysis
- The traumatic effects of COVID on individuals and teams, according to the medical and science experts
- Harvard University states that there are three (3) elements that one needs to master in order to succeed in work/life. And these are the mastery of: self, others, and the business (that you are in).
- What are the effects of COVID and the new normal on these three elements?
2. Neuroscience 101
A. The Human Brain is primarily programmed to “keep us alive”.
-It does so by being on the look-out for “threats” 24/7
- This results into a “negativity bias” (or the focus on negative experiences to the extent of ignoring the positive ones).
- With our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors --- the human brain changes in form and performance. This is a phenomenon referred to as “neuroplasticity”.
- COVID has created a situation wherein “threats” and “negativity bias” dominate our thoughts and behavior
- Implication: How does your brain respond in terms of neuroplasticity?
B. The human brain is the most energy-consumptive organ of the human body. Because of this, it gravitates towards certainty and it takes behavioral shortcuts.
C. The 2 parts of our brain which are involved in stress management are the amygdala and the prefrontal cortex
- The amygdala triggers threat detection
- The prefrontal cortex establishes “patterns” which guide our behavior
3. Stress Theory (Yerkes-Dobson Model)
4. Master the five (5) behavioral triggers that would cause our brain to activate the fear response (which stops the brain’s ability to think logically)
5. Applications for Business Success
- Personal & Team Mastery
- Communications & Developing Influence over Others
- Sales & Marketing
- Work-Life Balance
- Peak Performance
- Leadership
- Team Harmony
6. Wrap up and Synthesis
7. Q and A
